Self Discovery

Excerpt from
by William Samuel

THE CHILD MESSIAH ARRIVES AS WE GET SUBJECTIVISM STRAIGHT
Certainly Isaiah foresaw the Child of God. Certainly Jesus identified as that Child. It fits metaphysically that the discovery of the Child within will very well represent Messiah to Judaism when the Child within Everyman is found—and may even be found by the Christian community as well. But more likely, Jewish and Christian churchdom will fear for their dogmas, buildings and numbers—especially worry about deceivers—and refuse to listen to the Child Itself right in the heart of them. If so, the ministry of Jesus would be confirmed positively and subjectively. The prophets, including the confirming Christ of history, could be right once more. The Child IS the savior. A child shall lead a remnant of “children” to New Jerusalem, a new dimension.
I state as a fact of my own Self-discovery, I walked the objective ground first; I walked the subjective discovery second; I lived my subjectivism in the world, discovering the remarkable Balance about which I've written. Then I was pushed into total willingness of self-surrender. That surrender wasn't finished until I was willing to give up my most cherished self-beliefs, even the teaching of Jesus seen to be subservient before Godhead. Then I was given the keys to the Kingdom, the Secrets of the Child and the Equation with which I proved the truth of the Self-revelations and the teachings of the historic Christ.
The point here (and I repeat it endlessly) is I was given nothing of the Child and the Child's Equation until I was proven willing, after many years, to surrender even my joys of subjectivism—everything—even God, in obeisance to Godhead. What I have been shown since has been lived and proven, every step of the Equation confirmed—attesting the primacy of GOD first, not the messenger of God, even when that messenger is the Son of God Himself. I was finally made WILLING to surrender the Christ Idea for God, perhaps a little like Abraham—and then the Secret was given to me so that rather than lose that Christly Ideal I could become it.
Since those days, all but a few things I was shown have come to pass—and what has not happened, will, if the pattern remains as certain at its conclusion as it has been thus far in time. I see no reason it won't.
In the world, resistance to Truth is individual, then group wide, then nation wide, then worldwide. Objectively, the groups will be shattered and shaken as the individual has been—then the nation, then the world.
One does not have to be shaken if he moves ON with God—but he will be destroyed if he doesn't.
These words do not sound very metaphysical, but why do they have to? The Truth isn't bound to meet human expectations. God is still a mystery to me, but the Self-I-am, made in the perfect IMAGE of God, grows clearer every day—and those who heed these words will find what I have found. We become like the fountains we drink from. Religionists and metaphysicians drink from many fountains and have become a dilute nothing. There is a single Fountainhead, God, for whom Jesus speaks. The words of Jesus (in Thomas and elsewhere) are true and faithful. Whatever I have had to say can be found in those words or in the words of LaoTse who addressed nature as himself. The man Jesus drank from the Prophet's fountain and I drink from His. Jesus came as the historic, linear confirmation of the Child within—the first willing to BE that Child of God. I announce the Same Child of God, present in the hearts of Everyman. I hail Godhead first; I hail God's Original Image—the Child within the Elect of God.

Understanding Time

Now it is, in these late days in the ongoingness of mortal life, that the attention of the one who survives will be turned to the Child within himself. He will be comforted and profited in his worldly affairs, and in his heart he will grow wealthy. As this Child-consciousness grows in the world and as these renewing people communicate with one another around the earth, writing and telling their own glimpses and glimmers of the Child's joy—no longer reciting the words of others as proof of their own wisdom—there will be a remarkable synergistic assembly of feeling within humanity beyond the grandest hope of anyone.

Out of this unexpected synergism of Light, like a plant sending up a tall stem with a great flower on it, so the world will send up a newness of Child-people, blooming as a flower of Renewed Life—just like a fall flower finally coming to bloom in the late days before the frost.

After nearly eleven thousand years of human time, God's Tree of Life is coming into bloom. There will be a special Joy beyond joy felt by those who are part of this Flower of Life, the offspring of Godhead, seed from the Original Seed.

But listen, listen. It is the Tree that blooms, not we ourselves. Those who are led by the Child become the Living Blossom of Life here on earth—a new brotherhood, a new Community without leaders or temples, subservient to naught but the Child and its Source.

This flower may be shaken by the laughter, envy and scorn of the incredulous, and assaulted by pseudo-authorities whose power appears to be threatened. But the Child is a threat to no one.

Before us lies a brief and severe time when the flower is shaken by the wind and the petals seem to be scattered again and when those who are not holding fast to the inner Child's hand will wonder who the real prophets are. But from the Flower will come the Seed that will be taken up for the reseeding and ongoingness of tangible life. The tree will perish, but the seed will live.

How do I know this is so? Because it has been shown to me by the Child I am—and I see confirmation of the Divine Process and Its Equation in all nature. All one must do to know these things are happening already, is to look and see that they are happening. Line upon line now, but soon precept upon precept, more than a little here and a little there, the New Community already begins to flower and be seen by Everyman, first fruits of the Tree of Life—from out of which comes the Seed eternal.
All tangibility, all Da Shan and the life teeming on its slopes, is the subjectivity of God, not man. The Life that reads these words is the Awareness of God, no man.

The synergism we feel in the community of our families and most meaningful groups is only a fraction of the Divine Energy and Light of Godhead's Life soon to be felt by those who summon forth the Child within and dare to become that Child.

The downward human spiral of energy that culminates in selfness and the reproduction of human life will turn around to spiral upward and out, bringing with it the incomparable Energy of Life in its wholeness, joined with the Groom—and this joy is yet to be experienced by men and women.

It is reserved for the final flowering of Life. It begins with the Child within. We get busy and find It. We live the Equation, giving and receiving, receiving and giving to all mankind.

We write and tell of the Child's Glimpses because we are ourselves the only ones who can tell our own Glimpses of Light—they come to us immaculately and individually and to no one else. We are charged to give them to our others.

The Glimpse contains the pollen of Life and we give it freely. We accept it and pass it along. We live God's Equation with joy.

As it might be said in the East, the night of Brahman falls as soon as the harvest of the Seed is accomplished. The Morning of the New Day comes quickly.

Action and Subjectivism

ABOUT ACTION AND “GETTING OUR SUBJECTIVISM STRAIGHT”
In all Metadelphia [Editor: the town where all the non-dual absolutists live] there is little written that calls for people to get off their rocking chairs and soft sofas and to journey up the hill of Self-confirmation wherein their work becomes quantum, for the whole world. The honest metaphysical textbooks written to date, correctly address subjectivism, not action in the world.

To really understand the inner nature of things, it is necessary, for a time, to turn from the usual emphasis on worldly action found in the objective studies. Metaphysics is intended to bring its students into a full consciousness of subjectivism, but this isn't happening yet.

Getting one's subjectivism straight is much like learning Einstein's equation. One must learn it—and its precision—if he expects to go out in the world and apply it. If one hasn't understood the rudiments of subjectivism, he can't live it effectively and he simply grinds away from valley to valley.

“Sam, what do you mean by 'getting our subjectivism straight'?”
I answer: Let's say one has a flash of inspiration. He sits down and suddenly intuits something like Einstein's equation. Whammo. There is Light. I have called this the Glimpse and have spoken of that in detail.
Then what are we to do? We set out to build the understructure, the bridge from the intuited Truth to its proof in the world. I call this “getting one's subjectivism straight.” It is quite one thing to catch a glimpse of the “subjective idea” (the inner nature of the world—or the world's connection to the Awareness that sees it) and quite another thing to get it all straight, clarified and understood beyond intellectualism. Einstein struggled with the proofs of arithmetic for many years before he was able to come up with all the illustrations necessary to explain his glimpse. This is part of getting one's subjectivism straight, and this is what I say religionists and metaphysicians (especially) are weak in. We want the Glimpse, but we don't know what to do with it when we get it. The ordinary scientist is most concerned with proofs.
And what next? Then we set out to LIVE our Glimpse. When we see our Glimpse's result in our own world of people, places and things, we have had our CONFIRMATION. This is comparable to Einstein having to wait twenty years before the world's technology could build something that proved his equation was ACTUALLY right in the world—the link between the Glimpse and its application. All of these things are implied when I say that metaphysicians must get their subjectivism straight if they expect to see their world lifted up. Does this answer your question?
Human stasis (getting comfortable in various bends of the river) brings the personal condition to undergo changes that hasten the individual's conscious move toward the Divine Rest. The Equation again. We keep moving spiritually or perish in human unrest. We keep moving onward, and the change is upward—smoothly. We stop moving, and the change forced upon us is enough to push us out of our comfortable places very uncomfortably. That is true at the individual level and equally true at the group, national and world level. The great push at the group level has already begun in the world and in its churchdom of “old theology.” It is soon coming in scientific and metaphysical circles, simply because subjective studies are stuck where they are, without the Child and without the Equation.
Human conditions delineate the Divine Alreadyness, the Rest-beyond-movement. The present unrest in the world is Everyman's approaching Self-discovery of the Child within.
Just as every dream is certain to end in time, so the rediscovery of the Child is an inevitable consequence of the world's having forgotten It.
NON-ACTION IN THE METAPHYSICAL COMMUNITY
Action and non-action are not two separate, opposing ideas; they are complementary sides of the same coin. Together they delineate the Divine Rest.
Metaphysics calls attention to the non-action or rest aspect of this “two that are one” and, thereby, balances the objective view's extreme emphasis on action. But metaphysics, being a way of thinking, just as objectivism is, is subject to similar mis-adventures when it ignores half of its own nature.
Metaphysical imbalance results in turning non-action into NO action, thus enervating the expression of metaphysics in the world, reflecting that state of affairs appearing as the individual metaphysician who does little or nothing for his world in the belief that his world is illusion to be denied.
Oh, what a round-robin of hopelessness and helplessness this is! What is the answer? We live our subjectivism fearlessly in the objective world—and the whole world benefits. (William Samuel)

The Increase of Sensitivity

THE INCREASE OF SENSITIVITY

I would like to make clear a wondrous fact concerning this matter of judglessness. Many have found it already and have written in great excitement to tell me of it, but it seems to be a point difficult to understand by those who have only given the action of living judglessly a half-hearted try.  Many a puzzlement can be cleared up when we understand this: To the extent that we stop placing good-bad values on our images of awareness, OUR ABILITY TO DISTINGUISH INCREASES, and increases enormously.

There is a great difference between value-judgments and distinctions—a difference not easily understood until we actually get underway and begin ending our judgments. Then the great difference becomes apparent and, as it does, our actions follow suit, often to the wonder (and criticism) of the world.

To make this point crystal clear, let it be said again: The ability to distinguish increases as judgment ends. Distinguish what? New sights we have been unconscious of before; feelings we long since thought had vanished with the years. But more, we find an ever growing ability to distinguish new things in areas not recognized as containing new things—somewhat as if we had long been familiar with a bowl of glass marbles, heretofore seen simply as "marbles" but now, bit by bit, seen to be marbles of different sizes, colors and designs—all these apparent distinctions that others seem not to see at all!  Yes, perception "becomes" clear and acute. An intuitive alertness of a new kind develops. Inevitably, the wonder is how we could have been so stupid as to miss these things before.

————————

But, lo, with this positive phenomenon in one direction, come another in the opposite. (Contradistinction! The "means" by which Singleness is tangibly known). This new ability to perceive distinctions (arriving as the natural consequence of subduing judgmental living) is often viewed as a judgmental action by "others"! — in particular, by those of us who have intellectually arrived at the advantages of judglessness but have not given it a real try. "The less judgmental or critical I am,"  someone writes, "the more I am accused of it! Why?" Another question comes: "Why should I expect mental clarity and feelings of youth to increase as I stop living judgmentally? If I could believe that, I would give it a try."

When the intellect understands a point, it is occasionally willing to concede it. The following illustration has proven helpful to "make clear upon the tables" the why and how of the tangible "results" that come from hanging the apple back on the tree. At the same time it will point out the differences between judgment and distinction—and why our new found ability to distinguish appears as judgment to "others."

Reader, put yourself INTO this illustration. Take your present lingering likes, dislikes, wants and wishes into this analogy and see how and why they are, everyone, monumentally more than you suspect.

THE ILLUSTRATION OF THE DARK FRINGE AT THE EDGE OF THE FIELD

Suppose we have been raised since youth to be frightened of the forest on the other side of the field. Because we believed what we were told of the forest (by parents or school, church or society) we have never gone near it and, in the distance, that forest appears to be a dark foreboding fringe at the edge of the field. We have judged the forest to be bad. We are afraid of it and stay away. Keep this picture in mind as we proceed.

See how fear limits our action. We do not go in that direction.

Is family or society to blame for our fear? Are they guilty? They may tell us incorrectly that the forest is bad but it is we who accept what "they say" as true. Our acceptance of the value-judgment is our doing and it is our own belief in the lie that has us suffering.

Our first consideration should be what WE-AS-IDENTITY-HERE accept as Fact; what Identity-HERE believes, and not what should or should not come forth from the sundry sand-foundationed teachers out there.  We cannot know what to do constructively about the authorities and governments of the world until we have gotten things straight as Identity HERE first.

Note, especially: our living the belief (and "suffering" from it) has surely served as the means to KNOW beyond intellectually that Authority exists HERE AS I, not there as that. (Are we going to forever condemn the events that have served us so well?)

————————

Now we take the illustration another step. Some aspect of our ever new and "expanding" Self comes along and tells us that the dark fringe at the edge of the field is neither good nor bad but that an unnecessary value-judgment makes it seem so. Something within us responds and whispers, "It is so! It is only a forest being a forest!" What happens now?

Whenever the Heart blooms in Light, there is a lessening of illusory fear. The dark fringe seems less ominous and we are not quite so afraid to walk in that direction. Former restrictions are vanishing but (notice) old patterns of reaction remain. The habit of not going near the forest remains until we put our new Light and freedom into action. Reader, for me, facing former judgments has been a matter of girding up the loins, flouting former ways and walking across the entire field, row by row, to remind myself anew and again that the Power is not there with that, but here as Identity, thence finally to know beyond doubt that the fear was actually without foundation.

————————

Listen: Herein lie the reasons why judgless living so wondrously sharpens us, increasing our sensibilities beyond all we have ever known: What happens to the dark fringe as we live judglessly, walk across the field and insist on our freedom? (That is, what happens when we face up to our old fears without our former beliefs of them?) The forest becomes more distinct. It changes color. Soon we are aware of many things we did not see before—individual trees, shrubs, flowers. We hear sounds of nature we did not know existed. And in time we see that some trees are tall and some short, some old and some young. Some bend like the willow; others are unyielding like the oak. What was once a single, unqualified "bad" is seen to be a transcendent infinity.

There are not judgments hoving into view, reader. These are distinctions that our fearless living of judglessness has allowed us to become aware of. There is a vast difference between distinctions and judgments—distinctions being qualities and attributes (of Isness) precluded from conscious (tangible) view by judgment and apparent only when that judgment ends and the former fear faced. Distinctions are the reasons that lie behind the appearances.

What was once a miserable dark fringe is now seen to be a forest composed of oak, hickory, pine, and sassafras, each different, each beautiful, each doing its part to make a perfect forest a perfect forest. We see varieties of things we never knew existed. Our ability to distinguish has increased enormously. The absence of fear (or desire) has allowed us to experience what seems to the old point of view to be an expanding of awareness, an increasing sensibility, a proliferating capability to distinguish—see, hear, feel—things as they are, rather than as they seem. And they inevitably transcend anything the fearful view could have dreamed.

What once seemed to be the fearful forest of a retarded child is perhaps seen to be a faithful teacher at who's feet we sit in awe and wonder, WE the student, the child a very faithful and wonderful teacher! What once seemed to be a dark forest of family friction or marital inharmony is seen to be a new aspect of Light and Love coming to be acknowledged. What once seemed to be the woodland of penury, poverty, woe and want is recognized as the perfect condition which brought us to the very enlightenment going on right HERE, right NOW. The reasons for the fringe begin to appear. Enigmas that had been painful before begin to vanish quietly, imperceptibly, as the morning mist along the river vanishes before the sunshine and gentle wind out of the West. We hold hands and sing. We hear angels laughing.
